Public Policy Committee

The Public Policy Committee (PPC) is open to any member in good standing of the Tourism Development Alliance of Georgia.  The purpose of the PPC is to establish and execute strategies necessary to assist the Alliance is achieving is legislative initiatives.

Once an issue is presented, the Alliance staff, with assistance from members of the PPC, will prepare a draft position on the policy. This draft position statement will be posted on the Issues Form for membership input.  Using the feedback from the Alliance members, the board will then debate the issues and establish the official Alliance position on the issue.

The PPC will then have the responsibility for developing and executing the strategy in support of the policy position. All policy priorities of the legislative agenda will be presented to our partner organizations for their vote of support as well. By utilizing the process outlined above, as well as e-mail alerts and a series of conference calls, we have put into a logical framework to quickly and thoroughly evaluate the issue as well as outline the steps necessary to get our point of view heard by the General Assembly.

The Alliance also maintains a database of the members of the General Assembly.  The legislators are cross-referenced with our members and advocates across the state.  In addition, this database incorporates the economic impact statistics attributable to tourism.  At any time, we know the importance of tourism to each legislator’s district, as well as tourism industry professionals that are constituents.

To enhance our effectiveness, we need to continually build and expand our advocacy database.  E-mail us at info@tourismdevelopmentalliance.org to become part of our network or participate in the Public Policy Committee.
